Our story

Built from the
ground up.

Digital Prairie Enterprises started with a simple observation: rural Texas has everything a software company needs to succeed — except someone willing to try.

So we're trying.

Digital Prairie Enterprises
The story

Prairie roots.
Digital frontier.

Eastland County is a small rural county in North Central Texas — about halfway between Weatherford and Abilene. The economy is predominantly ranching, with some light manufacturing. The population is small and getting smaller. Young people leave because there's nothing to stay for.

The standard solutions — solar farms, data centers, industrial parks — require land, infrastructure, and capital that takes years to materialize, if it materializes at all. And they rarely produce the kind of career-ladder employment that keeps young families planted.

Software companies don't need land. They need office space, reliable electricity, and broadband internet. Eastland County has all three.

More importantly, the same low cost of living that makes Eastland a hard place to build a career also makes it a place where competitive salaries go a long way. Technology talent grown locally and paid fairly can compete in a global information economy — without anyone having to move to Austin or Dallas to do it.

That's the thesis. Digital Prairie Enterprises is the test.

The people
Allen Goodner
Founder & Senior Architect

Allen Goodner

Eastland, Texas · 15+ years in software

Allen has deep roots in Eastland County — four generations and more have made their homes in Cisco, Eastland, and Ranger. He's a Christian, a husband, and a father, and he carries those roles with quiet pride. His family's long history in this county shows up in the way he works: steady, honest, and built for the long haul.

He's spent 15 years at the crossroads of software engineering and people leadership — guiding teams, shaping distributed architectures, and building systems that have to perform at scale. A claims engine rebuilt from 2,000 records per hour to 21,000. An integration layer that cut partner development time by 90%. Products shipped for healthcare, fintech, and retail at national scale.

Allen thinks hard about how tools should serve people, not the other way around. He's known for clear thinking, careful planning, and a knack for turning complex problems into something you can actually use.

What we stand on
Core values
Four words. No shortcuts.
C
Craft
We're proud of what we do, and we do it the right way — every time, without exception.
C
Community
We're all better when we work together. That goes for teams, products, and the people who use them.
C
Commitment
When we say it, we mean it. No asterisks, no fine print, no backing out when it gets hard.
C
Clarity
Good tools make life clearer, not louder. That's the whole idea, and we don't forget it.
Where we're headed

A broader frontier

Software is only the first fencepost. Digital Prairie Enterprises is building a polytechnical homestead — a place where learning, creativity, and steady growth all live under the same sky.

In time, this will stretch well beyond apps:

Practical education tools and curricula
Creative tools for makers and builders
Training programs and workshops
Other work that helps folks build better lives
A community grounded in the same four values

Let's build something worth building
